Three findings

  1. Five teams pass all four preseason tests: Oklahoma City, San Antonio, New York, Boston and Detroit. Teams with that profile have won 16 of the last 25 titles.
  2. Detroit won 60 games and passes all four tests, but the sportsbooks give it 3.2% of the title. Of the 105 teams with its profile since 2001-02, 16 won it all, about 15%.
  3. Philadelphia passes two of the four tests. Of the 80 teams that started a season passing two, 3 won the title, about 4%, yet the market prices the 76ers at 8.2%.
